TPP Chair Holds Strategic Meetings with NSC and AIT Officials in Washington

Washington: A delegation led by Taiwan People's Party (TPP) Chairman Huang Kuo-chang held meetings in Washington, D.C. on Monday with officials from the U.S. National Security Council (NSC) and the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT).

According to Focus Taiwan, the four-person TPP delegation, which left Taiwan on Sunday, arrived at the NSC's headquarters in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building at 10 a.m. The delegation was accompanied by AIT Managing Director Ingrid Larson and stayed for approximately one hour.

Later, at 1 p.m., the group attended a second meeting at AIT's Washington headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. This meeting included State Department China and Taiwan analyst Jessica Drun. Despite media presence, Huang did not take questions from reporters upon exiting the meeting or confirm whether topics such as Taiwan's special defense budget were discussed. The defense budget is supported by the U.S. but has faced opposition from both the TPP and the Kuomintang.

The TPP delegation, which also includes TPP legislative caucus director Chen Chih-han, former TPP International Department head Lin Tzu-yu, and TPP member Wang An-hsiang, was scheduled to leave Washington, D.C. on Monday evening. Huang has indicated that the delegation intends to hold a news conference after returning to Taiwan on Wednesday morning to share the outcomes of their visit.
