Taipei: Two public servants were identified as holders of Chinese ID cards, while 75 others were found to possess residence certificates issued by China, during the initial phase of an investigation, Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) announced on Monday.
According to Focus Taiwan, the investigation has so far examined the status of approximately 370,000 individuals, including military personnel, civil servants, and public-school teachers. Chiu Chui-cheng, the head of MAC, shared these details while speaking to reporters before a legislative committee hearing.
Chiu stated that the investigation is being conducted in stages, beginning with the specified categories of government workers. Out of the 370,000 workers scrutinized, only two were discovered to have Chinese ID cards. The first phase of this extensive investigation wrapped up at the end of April.
