Taoyuan: The number of passengers handled by Taoyuan International Airport, the main gateway to Taiwan, exceeded 20 million from January 1 to June 4, as the post COVID-19 tourism industry continues to recover.
According to Focus Taiwan, from January to May, Taoyuan Airport managed 19.57 million passengers, with the volume surpassing 20 million as of June 4. This figure represents approximately 96.5 percent of the passenger volume recorded in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, as revealed by statistics from Taoyuan International Airport Corp.
The company projects that Taoyuan Airport will handle 8.53 million passengers from July to August, marking a 9.5 percent increase from the same period in 2024. If accurate, this estimate would surpass the 8.52 million passengers recorded in the same period of 2019, setting a new record.
The airport operator advises passengers to ensure they have valid travel documents, check flight information, and arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure. They are also encouraged to use the airport's smart services, such as a smartphone app or automated check-in equipment, to reduce waiting times.
