Yennun Huang to Stand Down as Digital Affairs Minister

Taipei: Premier Cho Jung-tai has approved the departure of Minister of Digital Affairs Yennun Huang, Cabinet spokesperson Michelle Lee confirmed Friday. Huang, currently on secondment at the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) from Taiwan's Academia Sinica, is set to return to the national research academy's Research Center for Information Technology, according to the ministry.

According to Focus Taiwan, Lee stated that Premier Cho expressed gratitude for Huang's contributions during his tenure as Taiwan's digital affairs minister. However, the spokesperson did not specify when Huang would leave his position or who would be appointed as his successor.

Huang became the second head of MODA after succeeding Minister Audrey Tang on May 20, 2024. In a Friday news release, MODA outlined Huang's key accomplishments, including strengthening Taiwan's digital resilience, advancing the digital economy, and taking a proactive role in combating digital fraud.

MODA further expressed appreciation for Huang's dedication and announced its commitment to continuing his efforts in the future.
