Beware of skyrocketing electricity bills. Very hot, electrical peaks occur frequently

Bangkok, Very hot. Using a lot of electricity, there was another peak in electricity yesterday. Turn on the air conditioner to turn off the heat. Be careful of being shocked by the electricity bill.

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) reports that yesterday (April 5, 2024) at 10:22 p.m., Thai people used the highest (peak) electricity of this year at 34,121.6 MW, with the weather during this period being hot. causing this year’s peak to continue and approach the country’s highest peak in 2023 at 34,130.5 MW that occurred on May 6 at 9:41 p.m.

The Ministry of Energy expects this year to exceed 35,000 MW, which apart from the hot weather is also due to the Thai economy expanding and having more tourists. The peak occurs late at night as people return to their homes. Demand for electricity both for turning on air conditioners and for charging EV vehicles has increased. Meanwhile, in the daytime, factories, buildings, and residences are increasingly installing solar panels to produce their
own electricity. The peak therefore does not occur during the day and shifts to more late at night.
