Kaohsiung: South Korean K-pop girl group Blackpink will make Kaohsiung the first stop on their Asia tour with performances at Kaohsiung National Stadium on October 18 and 19. The group announced the concerts through the event’s organizer, marking a significant milestone in their tour schedule.
According to Focus Taiwan, these upcoming performances will make Blackpink the first girl group to perform twice at the stadium and will be their third concert visit to Taiwan. Blackpink last held a concert in Kaohsiung in March 2023, with their initial performance in Taiwan occurring on March 3, 2019, at NTSU Arena (Linkou Arena).
The group’s 2022-2023 “Born Pink” tour set a record for a K-pop girl group world tour, drawing over 1.8 million attendees across 66 shows in 34 cities from October 2022 to September 2023. In 2020, Blackpink achieved another milestone by becoming the first all-female group to sell over 1 million albums with their debut album “The Album.”
In 2022, Blackpink’s album “Born Pink” became the first by a K-pop girl group to top the U.S. Billboard 200 chart. The group also made history in April 2023 by headlining the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the first K-pop girl group to do so.
Recently, Blackpink reached a new digital milestone by becoming the first musical artist to surpass 96 million subscribers on YouTube. The group was formed by YG Entertainment in 2016 and consists of four members: Jisoo, Jennie, Ros©, and Lisa.
Tickets for the Kaohsiung event are set to go on sale on June 12 at 11 a.m. on the tixCraft website, as announced by the event’s organizer.
