Cold Air Mass Set to Lower Temperatures to 12°C in Taiwan Saturday Night

Taipei: With a cold air mass approaching, temperatures in the northern half of Taiwan could dip to as low as 12 degrees Celsius from Saturday night to early Sunday morning, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

According to Focus Taiwan, the CWA stated that the upcoming cold air mass is expected to impact the country, with low temperatures anticipated to fall to 13-15 degrees in Changhua County in Central Taiwan and areas north of the county on Saturday, following daytime highs of 17-21 degrees.

The CWA noted that some low-lying regions, such as Keelung City and the northern coastal areas, are likely to experience temperatures dropping to 12 degrees from Saturday night through early Sunday morning.

In the southern part of Taiwan, daytime temperatures are predicted to reach 23-26 degrees on Saturday, with a decrease to 16-19 degrees at night, the CWA reported.

The CWA also mentioned that the cold air mass is expected to bring moisture to Taiwan, potentially leading to snowfall in mountains
3,000 meters or higher in northern Taiwan, including Yilan County, on Saturday night.

Snowfall is projected to persist into Monday as the cold air mass continues to affect the country, according to the CWA. Additionally, the weather is expected to warm up from Wednesday to Friday across most of Taiwan.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment has estimated the air quality across most of Taiwan to be fair to good on Saturday. However, an “orange” air quality alert is forecast for certain parts of Yunlin, Chiayi, Pingtung counties, and Tainan and Kaohsiung cities in the south, prompting the ministry to advise sensitive groups to limit strenuous outdoor activities.
