CORONAVIRUS/Taiwan confirms 10 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death

Taipei, Taiwan on Saturday reported 10 new cases of COVID-19 — two transmitted domestically and eight contracted overseas — and one death from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

 

The two domestic cases were reported in New Taipei City, the CECC said.

The new cases bring the total in the country to 15,916, of which 14,332 are domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 COVID-19 cases in a single day.

 

The death reported on Saturday involved a man in his 60s who had suffered chronic diseases, the CECC said. His infection was confirmed on June 2 and he died on June 12, according to the CECC.

 

To date, 828 people have died of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 816 since May 15.
