CORONAVIRUS/Taiwan reports 13,440 new COVID-19 cases, 56 deaths

Taiwan on Friday reported 13,440 new cases of COVID-19, all but 303 of which were domestic, and 56 deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The 13,137 domestic cases reported Friday represented a 13.4-percent drop from the same day a week earlier, CECC data showed.

The CECC is no longer provide daily information on the age groups, health conditions, and the number of received vaccine doses of the deceased nor will it list the daily infection numbers from each of Taiwan’s cities and counties.

To date, Taiwan has recorded 9,998,752 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020.

With the 56 deaths reported Friday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country rose to 17,765.
