CORONAVIRUS/Taiwan reports 60 new COVID-19 cases, including 16 domestic

Taiwan reported 60 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, consisting of 16 domestic and 44 imported cases, with zero deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The new domestic cases were all linked to previously reported clusters in Taoyuan, Kaohsiung, and Yilan County, CECC spokesperson Chuang Jen-hsiang (???) said.

Nine of the domestic cases were fully vaccinated, while six children under the age of 10 and a man over the age of 40 had not received any vaccine doses, according to CECC data.

In addition to the domestic cases, Taiwan also reported 44 imported cases on Tuesday, seven of whom were passengers who tested positive upon arrival in Taiwan between Sunday and Monday. The CECC did not release any information regarding the vaccination status of the imported cases.

To date, Taiwan has confirmed 18,850 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 15,081 domestically transmitted infections.

With no deaths reported on Tuesday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 deaths in the country remains at 851.
