Bangkok:The Meteorological Department has issued announcement number 11, alerting the public to expect heavy to very heavy rainfall in the eastern and southern regions of Thailand between October 22 and 25, 2026. The warning emphasizes the potential for adverse weather conditions, including thunderstorms and strong winds, in the lower northern, lower northeastern, and central areas, along with Bangkok and its surrounding regions.
According to Thai News Agency, the weather conditions are attributed to a monsoon trough passing through southern Thailand, alongside a southwest monsoon affecting the lower Andaman Sea. Additionally, a cold air mass from China is spreading over northern and northeastern Thailand, as well as the South China Sea, causing easterly winds across the country and the Gulf of Thailand.
The public is cautioned to remain vigilant due to the risks posed by heavy and prolonged rainfall, which could lead to flash floods and landslides, particularly in hillside and low-lying regions. Mariners are specifically advised to be cautious in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, where thunderstorms may result in waves exceeding 3 meters.
