Bangkok:Krungthai Bank has announced a net profit of 12,582 million baht for the third quarter of 2026, attributing this success to sustained growth in loans and its Wealth Management business, as well as effective cost and asset quality management.
According to Thai News Agency, the President and CEO of Krungthai Bank, Mr. Payong Srivanich, highlighted that the Thai economy experienced uneven growth during the first nine months of 2026, characterized by a K-shaped pattern. While exports and investments in AI and data centers saw an upward trend, domestic production and purchasing power remained limited. The bank's strategies include proactive debt restructuring and support for government initiatives such as 'Thai Helps Thai Plus' and 'SMEs Credit Boost' to mitigate living costs and enhance liquidity.
In Q3 2026, Krungthai Bank's loan growth increased by 10% year-on-year, with a net interest margin of 2.44%. The bank maintained a high coverage ratio of 205.3% and managed a non-performing loan level of 2.93%. Despite a 9.5% decrease in net interest income, the bank enhanced income sustainability through growth in its Wealth Management business, which saw a 6.2% increase in net fee and service income.
Efficient expense management resulted in a Cost to Income Ratio of 38.4%. The bank continues to invest in technology to boost competitiveness, anticipating a rise in operating expenses in the fourth quarter due to seasonal factors. For the first nine months of 2026, the net profit attributable to the bank was 37,145 million baht, with continued growth in non-interest income driven by Wealth Management and the money and capital markets business.
Krungthai Bank's financial group reported a Tier 1 capital ratio of 18.66% and a total capital ratio of 20.70% as of September 30, 2026. The bank's strategic initiatives include leveraging AI technology, developing accessible financial products, and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. It collaborates with the government, the World Bank, and private partners to develop carbon finance mechanisms, aiming to enhance Thailand's competitiveness and attract sustainable investment.
