Thai Finance Minister Advocates “STI” Strategy at APEC Meeting

Hong Kong:Thailand's Finance Minister, Ekniti Nitithanprapas, has called on the 21 APEC economies to implement a "STI" (Strategic Integrity, Technology, Innovation) strategy to manage economic volatility. This appeal was made during the 33rd APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting held in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Ekniti, who also serves as the Deputy Prime Minister, participated in the meeting chaired by Mr. Lan Fo'an, China's Minister of Finance. The event took place on October 20, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, focusing on economic challenges such as artificial intelligence, climate change, and energy.

The "STI" strategy proposed by Dr. Ekniti includes three primary components. Firstly, "Stabilize Today" aims for short-term economic stability, fiscal discipline, and targeted assistance. Secondly, "Transition Now" focuses on economic structural transition and the shift to clean energy and a green economy. Lastly, "Invest for Tomorrow" emphasizes investment-led growth in digital and water infrastructure, as well as future technologies.
