Taipei: Taiwanese coffeehouse chain Louisa Coffee will implement a price increase on approximately 90 menu items by an average of 5 percent starting Tuesday, the company's management announced.
According to Focus Taiwan, the decision to raise prices is driven by the rising costs of ingredients, materials, labor, and electricity.
The company provided specific examples of the price adjustments in its statement. The cost of a medium specialty Americano will increase from NT$65 (US$2.06) to NT$70, while a specialty latte will now be priced at NT$90, up from NT$85. Additionally, a medium oat milk latte will see a NT$10 increase to NT$90, and a regular black Americano will rise by NT$5 to NT$60.
Louisa Coffee also noted changes to some of the more affordable items on its menu. The price of an English black tea will move from NT$40 to NT$50, and a Ceylon black tea will increase by NT$5, reaching NT$45. A small selection of items, such as latte frappes and float drinks containing ice cream, will experience a NT$15 rise due to the higher cost of relevant ingredients.
Originally launched in Taipei in 2006, Louisa Coffee has grown to become one of Taiwan's largest coffeehouse chains, known for offering more affordable prices than its main competitor, Starbucks. Louisa aims to exceed 600 store locations in Taiwan by the end of this year.
