Hualien: A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Hualien County in eastern Taiwan at 2:03 p.m. Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). The epicenter of the temblor was located at sea, approximately 25.3 kilometers south-southwest of the Hualien County Hall, at a depth of 15.3 km, as per CWA data.
According to Focus Taiwan, there were no immediate reports of damage resulting from the quake. The earthquake’s intensity, which measures the actual effect of a temblor, was highest in Hualien’s Yanliao and Dowmung villages, where it registered a 4 on Taiwan’s 7-tier intensity scale. Additionally, the quake measured an intensity of 3 in Nantou County and an intensity of 2 in Taichung, Yilan, Changhua, Chiayi, Yunlin, and Miaoli counties, as well as Chiayi City.
