Yilan: A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Yilan County in northeastern Taiwan at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). The epicenter of the temblor was located at sea, about 128.9 kilometers east-southeast of Yilan County Hall, at a depth of 88.1 km.

According to Focus Taiwan, there were no immediate reports of damage resulting from the quake. The earthquake's intensity, which gauges the actual effect of a temblor, was highest in Yilan, Hualien, Nantou, Taichung, and Taitung, where it measured 3 on Taiwan's 7-tier intensity scale. The quake also measured an intensity of 2 in New Taipei, Taipei, Keelung, Hsinchu, Taoyuan, Miaoli, Chiayi, Changhua, Yunlin, and Chiayi.
