South Korea's state pension fund reported a 13.6 percent return on investment last year, helped by a healthy performance from investments in stocks at home and overseas, its operator said Wednesday. At the end of last year, the value of assets under management by the National Pension Service reached 1,035 trillion won (US$775 billion), up some 145 trillion won from a year ago. It marked the highest annual return on investment by the fund since the fund's management division was established in 1999, it said. Last year, the fund registered a 22.12 percent return on its investment in local stocks and a 23.89 percent yield on overseas stocks. The fund also logged a 7.4 percent return on its investment in local bonds and earned an 8.84 percent yield on its investment in foreign bonds. Source: Yonhap News Agency
