Tokyo: The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) of Taiwan delivered the final performance of its Japanese tour at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. The concert featured a rendition of “The Angel from Formosa,” with NSO music director Jun M¤rkl describing it as the finest performance of the tour.
According to Focus Taiwan, the NSO’s last concert in Japan highlighted the orchestra’s exceptional talent and coordination, as they performed works including “Double Concerto in E Minor, Op 88,” by Max Bruch and “Symphony No. 4” by Gustav Mahler. M¤rkl expressed his satisfaction, stating that the final concert was the best of the four-concert series that began on May 31.
The concert was attended by several notable figures, including Kamakura Vice Mayor Shoichiro Chida, NHK Symphony Orchestra Chairman Koichi Nakanoya, and Japanese conductor Ryuichiro Sonoda. Lutz Gllner, Head of the European Economic and Trade Office in Taiwan, and opera singer Tseng Dau-Hsiong were also present. Sonoda commended NSO violinist Paul Huang for his performance, while Tseng expressed pride in the Taiwanese orchestra.
After the performance, M¤rkl, along with musicians Huang, violist Veit Hertenstein, and soprano Ena Miyachi, participated in a signing event at the concert hall, which was well-attended by the audience.
