Pilots Clinch Second Consecutive PLG Title with Decisive Victory Over Braves

Taoyuan: The Taoyuan Pauian Pilots decisively defeated the Taipei Fubon Braves 107-81 in Game 7 of the 2025-26 P.LEAGUE+ (PLG) Finals, securing their second consecutive championship. This victory marked the end of Taiwan basketball legend Lin Chih-chieh's career. According to Focus Taiwan, Alec Brown of the Pilots was named Finals MVP after averaging 15.2 points and 8.3 rebounds throughout the seven-game series. In the final game, Brown contributed 14 points, including four three-pointers. He noted that the series was challenging for the Pilots, requiring them to emphasize defense and teamwork to overcome shooting struggles. Alongside Brown, star forward Lu Chun-hsiang led the Pilots with 26 points, followed by Setric Deon Miller Jr.'s 24 points. On the Braves' side, Archie Lee Goodwin III delivered a game-high 44 points, setting a new Finals record with a 26-point third quarter. However, the Pilots' strong fourth-quarter performance extinguished any hopes of a Braves comeback. The Pilots dominated the reg ular season with a 21-3 record, positioning them as favorites to win the title. Despite this, the Braves, who finished second with a 12-12 record, challenged the Pilots by taking a 3-2 series lead. The Pilots maintained control during the final game, securing the lead early on and never relinquishing it. Braves head coach Roger Hsu commented on his team's fatigue following their previous loss, acknowledging their lack of energy in the decisive game. Lin Chih-chieh, closing his storied career, expressed disappointment in not securing another championship but emphasized his regret for the team's missed opportunity. The PLG is one of two professional basketball leagues in Taiwan, with the other being the Taiwan Professional Basketball League. The latter saw the Formosa Dreamers claim their first title against the New Taipei Kings earlier in the season. In a post-game conference, Pilots head coach Iurgi Caminos suggested hosting an interleague series with the Dreamers to determine the ultimate champion of Tai wan. His proposal included games across different cities, aiming to crown the true champions of Taiwanese basketball.
