Public complaints conveyed on President Jokowi’s social media accounts allow us to cross-check the data presented by the public with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing data Jakarta (ANTARA) – Public complaints about public facilities posted on President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi’s) social media are helping the government recheck and verify official data, according to the Presidential Secretariat. The Presidential Secretariat’s Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media Bey Machmudin said the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing’s National Roads Offices have recorded and surveyed damaged roads nationwide. “Public complaints conveyed on President Jokowi’s social media accounts allow us to cross-check the data presented by the public with the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing data to ensure accurate (follow-up),” the secretariat deputy informed in a short message received here on Monday. He said that the ministry has proposed a budget of Rp32.7 trillion (around US$2.21 billion) for the 20232024 period for road repairs nationwide, as per the President’s instruction. Presidential Instruction No. 3 of 2023 on the acceleration of road connectivity improvement in regions, signed by Widodo, is the legal basis for the budget disbursement, he added. The presidential instruction aims to expedite the improvement of road connectivity in regions, optimize national and regional economies, reduce national logistics costs by integrating economic centers, and ensure good road conditions throughout the country. The nationwide road repairs will take place gradually, he said, adding that road repair work in Lampung province will take place in July at the latest after the conclusion of the tender for the project. Earlier, President Widodo invited citizens to share complaints about damaged roads in their regions in the comments section of a video published on his Instagram account @jokowi. “If the road in your region is heavily damaged and has not been repaired for a long time, tell me in the comment section and send a video through a direct message to this Instagram account,” the President said in the post. The Instagram post, which showed a video of the President inspecting a damaged road in Lampung, garnered more than 100 thousand comments.
