South Korea will host the International Crown, an LPGA match-play team competition, for the second time in 2025, organizers announced Wednesday. The event's organizers said the next edition of the biennial competition, organized by the LPGA Tour, will be played at New Korea Country Club in Goyang, just northwest of Seoul in Gyeonggi Province, from Oct. 23 to 26 in 2025. The International Crown, launched in 2014, is sponsored by LIFEPLUS, a joint brand of financial affiliates for the South Korean conglomerate Hanwha Group, including Hanwha Life and Hanwha Investment and Securities. After the first two events were held in the United States, South Korea hosted the 2018 edition of the International Crown in Incheon, just west of Seoul. The event was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and made its return in 2023 in Thailand. South Korea won the 2018 competition on home soil. Participating teams and players will be determined by world rankings next year. The first three days will feature fourball match plays, in which players will each play their own balls. The final round will be a mix of the singles and foursome matches, where golfers will take turn in playing one ball per team. The four editions so far have produced four different champions -- Spain in 2014, the United States in 2016, South Korea in 2018 and Thailand in 2023. Source: Yonhap News Agency
