Several KMT Lawmakers Claim Recall Victories as Vote Count Continues

Taipei: Several opposition Kuomintang (KMT) lawmakers have declared that they survived recall attempts against them in Saturday’s mass recall vote, as official results remain incomplete and vote counting continues.

According to Focus Taiwan, while final tallies are pending from the Central Election Commission, early indications suggest that many recall campaigns targeting the opposition party are falling short.

As of 6 p.m., several KMT legislators have announced that they have survived recall votes against them, including Wang Hung-wei Lai Shyh-bao, Lee Yen-hsiu, Fu Kun-chi, Liao Wei-hsiang, Huang Chien-hao, Lo Ting-wei, Tu Chuan-chi, Chiu Jo-hua, Niu Hsu-ting, Lu Ming-che, Wan Mei-ling, and Lu Yu-ling.

Civic groups involved in the recall campaigns, meanwhile, declared that the recall vote against KMT legislators Lo Chih-chiang and Huang Chien-pin had failed to pass.
