Taiwanese Pastry Student Wins Silver at Junior World Confectioners Championship

So paulo: Taiwanese pastry student Lee Che-wei won a silver medal on Friday at the 2025 UIBC Junior World Championship of Confectioners in So Paulo, Brazil. Lee, who is studying in the Department of Food Science and Technology at Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology, was coached by Yu Lung-hung, an assistant professor-level technical specialist, during the championship held by the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners (UIBC) from July 21 to 25.

According to Focus Taiwan, Lee has previously competed in multiple international contests and achieved a gold medal at the 2024 IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany. His accomplishments have brought significant recognition to his skills and dedication to the craft of confectionery.

Angeles Chu, head of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brazil in So Paulo, personally congratulated Lee at the event on behalf of the government. Chu emphasized that the silver medal is a testament to Lee’s commitment following extensive training and numerous practice runs. She noted that this honor not only provides Lee with an opportunity on the international stage but also highlights Taiwan’s capabilities and potential in the baking arts globally.
