Taiwan’s Envoy Engages with U.S. Treasury Secretary and Japan PM at APEC


Taipei: Taiwan’s envoy to the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, Lin Hsin-i, engaged in discussions with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on the sidelines of the annual event.



According to Focus Taiwan, Lin and Bessent exchanged views on technology policy, talent cultivation, and supply chain cooperation. A member of Taiwan’s APEC delegation mentioned that Lin expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump’s administration for its role in promoting global peace and prosperity and acknowledged the U.S. support for the bilateral partnership, describing it as essential for Indo-Pacific stability.



Lin highlighted Taiwan’s investment model and the country’s commitment to collaborating with the U.S. to achieve mutual economic prosperity. The U.S. Treasury Department noted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Bessent and Lin discussed topics of mutual interest, including technology, resilient supply chains, and investments in the U.S.



In addition, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi shared a photo on X of her interaction with Lin, mentioning that they exchanged greetings ahead of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting. Taiwan’s delegation reported that Lin congratulated Takaichi on her new role as Japan’s prime minister.
