Taiwan’s top officials donate a month’s salary toward relief efforts in Turkey

President Tsai Ing-wen (???) and top officials in her administration on Thursday pledged to donate a month’s salary to aid disaster relief efforts in earthquake-struck Turkey.

Vice President Lai Ching-te (???), Premier Chen Chien-jen (???) and Vice Premier Cheng Wen-tsan (???) have also pledged to donate a month’s salary, according to Presidential Office spokeswoman Lin Yu-chan (???) and Cabinet spokesman Chen Tsung-yen (???).

In addition to donations from officials, Taiwan’s government has contributed US$2 million toward relief efforts in Turkey and dispatched two rescue teams comprising a total of 130 members and five rescue dogs.

Meanwhile, members of the public in Taiwan have donated NT$10.33 million (US$343,206) through dedicated accounts set up by the government as of Wednesday evening.
