The documentary film "The Birth of Korea," which sheds light on the life and politics of former President Rhee Syng-man, surpassed 1 million admissions, its distributer said Tuesday. The cumulative number of admissions exceeded 1 million earlier in the day, Docustory said, less than a month after its release on Feb. 1. The box office result is exceptional, given the generally less attention a documentary gets in theaters. The film became the fourth Korean documentary to attract more than 1 million moviegoers, after "My Love, Don't Cross That River" (2014), "Old Partner" (2009) and "Our President" (2017), which garnered 4.8 million, 2.93 million and 1.85 million viewers, respectively.
