Taipei: Due to the effects of Typhoon Ragasa, domestic and international flight operators on Monday announced schedule alterations that are set to take effect from Tuesday to Wednesday.
According to Focus Taiwan, Mandarin Airlines announced it will suspend all domestic flights from Taiwan proper to Kinmen, Matsu, and Taitung on Tuesday morning, before gradually returning to regular operations after 12 p.m. However, all flights from Taiwan proper to Penghu and Hualien will operate as usual. UNI Airways has also announced cancellations of services between Chiayi and Kinmen, as well as flights from Taipei’s Songshan Airport to Hualien. Flights to Penghu are scheduled to continue, with other domestic routes potentially resuming after noon, weather permitting. To assist travelers stranded on Taiwan’s outlying islands, UNI Airways will add an extra round trip between Kaohsiung and Kinmen on Tuesday evening.
On the international front, several airlines have announced changes to their itineraries. Tigerair Taiwan has canceled numerous flights to and from Japan and South Korea, including connections between Taoyuan and major Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Sapporo. Several flights will also be delayed, but rescheduling details are currently unavailable. EVA Air has canceled all flights between Taiwan and Hong Kong, as well as Taiwan and Macau, on Tuesday, with tentative cancellations for Wednesday. Other impacted routes include flights to Shenzhen, Singapore, Bangkok, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.
China Airlines has announced delays and potential cancellations of flights to and from Taoyuan on Tuesday, specifically between 5 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Additionally, all flights between Taoyuan and Hong Kong, as well as between Kaohsiung and Hong Kong, will be canceled on Wednesday. Travelers are encouraged to check China Airlines’ website and mobile app for the latest updates.
Starlux Airlines has also taken precautionary measures by canceling several flights between Taoyuan and key Asian destinations such as Macau, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Bangkok, Jakarta, and Cebu. Some flights will depart earlier or be delayed, including the Taoyuan to Bangkok and Chiang Mai routes. For Wednesday, Starlux has also canceled flights between Taoyuan and Hong Kong, Macau, as well as between Taichung and Macau.
