Typhoon Relief Account Receives NT$42.7 Million in One Week

Taipei: An account established on July 21 to collect private donations for Typhoon Danas disaster relief has amassed over NT$42.7 million (US$1.45 million) by Sunday, as reported by the Taiwan Foundation for Disaster Relief on Monday.

According to Focus Taiwan, the account saw a total of 8,951 transfers, with 13 contributions exceeding NT$1 million. Notable donations include a combined NT$16 million from state-funded businesses and NT$6 million from E. Sun Bank and its affiliates.

The foundation has set a fundraising target of NT$500 million, intended to support disaster relief, emergency medical aid, shelter and resettlement, and post-disaster recovery efforts. These funds are available for application by both private and public sectors for the outlined purposes.

Fundraising is set to conclude on August 20, after which there will be a public announcement of donors and a disclosure of how the funds are disbursed, the foundation added. Typhoon Danas made landfall in Chiayi County's Budai Township on July 6, severely affecting central and southern Taiwan, resulting in power outages, water supply disruptions, property damage, and flooding.

Donations to the designated account can be made through several channels, including money transfer and LinePay, or by visiting major convenience store chains and selecting the "2025 Typhoon Danas Fundraising Program" on their respective payment machines.
