Taipei: The U.S. dollar rose sharply against the Taiwan dollar Thursday, gaining NT$0.197 to close at NT$29.916.

According to Focus Taiwan, turnover totaled US$1.729 billion during the trading session. The greenback opened at the day’s low of NT$29.770 and peaked at NT$29.954 during trading.
