Washington: At a closed-door Senate GOP briefing, two frontline Ukrainian drone commanders presented lessons from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, emphasizing the transformative role of drones in modern warfare. The Ukrainian commanders' presentation, lasting around 30 minutes, focused on operational lessons from nearly five years of drone warfare. The discussion highlighted how drones have isolated Crimea without major ground offensives, the impacts of support from nations such as Iran, North Korea, and China for Russia, and the broader implications for US security and potential future conflicts involving Iran or Taiwan. Senator Scott noted the remarkable achievements of Ukrainian forces, including the destruction of approximately $15 billion in Russian military equipment by a unit of 2,000 personnel. Another Ukrainian unit, operating on a small defense budget, accounted for roughly 30% of Russia's battlefield losses through innovative use of autonomous systems. Scott emphasized the importance of human capital over manufacturing capabilities, highlighting that Ukraine's ability to rapidly adapt and improve drone tactics presents a valuable lesson for the United States.
