(Asian Cup) S. Korean Lee Kang-in rated as top dribbler in opening phase

SEOUL, With all 24 teams having played at least one match at the ongoing Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup in Qatar, South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in emerged as the top dribbler in the opening stage.

The AFC released key figures from Matchday One at its signature men’s tournament. According to the AFC, Lee attempted and completed more dribbles than anyone in their first match.

The Paris Saint-Germain star attempted 12 dribbles and completed eight, and scored twice in South Korea’s 3-1 win over Bahrain in their opening Group E match Monday.

Though Lee is more of a playmaker than a natural goal scorer, he has netted six goals in his past six matches for South Korea.

Lee’s first goal, which came in the 56th minute, broke a 1-1 deadlock. He then grabbed his second goal a dozen minutes later to give the Taegeuk Warriors more breathing room.

South Korea are trying to win their first Asian Cup title since 1960. Their next group match is against Jordan on Saturday at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha. Jo
rdan blanked Malaysia 4-0 in their first Group E game Monday.

South Korea have won their past seven international matches and have scored 23 goals while conceding just one during that run.
