Eco-friendly technologies developed by South Korean companies are set to capture the attention of business officials and tech enthusiasts at the upcoming CES 2024 next week.
The South Korean energy-to-telecom conglomerate SK Group is on the forefront, with its seven affiliates, including SK Inc., SK hynix Inc., SK Innovation and SK Telecom Co., participating in the four-day annual tech show slated for Jan. 9 in Las Vegas.
SK companies will jointly run a pavilion, showcasing the group’s net-zero technologies and products at one site, ranging from electric vehicle batteries to urban air mobility and small modular reactors.
The 1,850-square-meter showroom decorated with a theme park concept will let visitors ride futuristic trains and flying carpets, and enjoy an AI fortuneteller to help them experience a net-zero world where the climate crisis has disappeared, according to SK Group.
It is a part of SK Group’s announcement made last year at CES that it plans to reduce 200 million tons of carbon emissions by
2030, equivalent to 1 percent of the global carbon emissions reduction goal set by the International Energy Agency.
SK Group said its member companies have been developing various carbon reduction technologies and solutions as the group has set “net zero” as new growth momentum in the era of energy transition.
“We plan to unveil various innovative technologies and initiatives at CES to position ourselves as the world’s leading provider of carbon reduction solution packages,” the company official said.
Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea’s biggest carmaker, will share its future blueprint for a hydrogen energy ecosystem, and a vision for software and artificial intelligence (AI), under the theme “Ease every way.”
The company aims to accelerate the transition to a hydrogen-led society and address global energy inequality during the CES exhibition.
Its latest software strategies to build an optimized ecosystem that connects users, mobility data and cities with AI will be also featured.
Along with its AI-powered
smart home system, LG Electronics Co. will come up with a washer for travel mugs at CES 2024 as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability.
With LG Electronics’ cleaning solution, the washer, named LG mycup, incorporates the company’s eco-conscious technologies from LG dishwashers to save water.
Doosan Group, a leading heavy equipment manufacturers, will focus on energy solutions for the carbon-neutral era, featuring technologies such as nuclear, hydrogen, and wind power from Doosan Enerbility Co. and HyAxiom Inc.
Doosan Enerbility will demonstrate a high-efficiency large-scale hydrogen turbine technology, while HyAxiom will showcase its water electrolysis system technologies to produce green hydrogen.
