Taipei: A continental cold air mass is expected to cause temperatures in northern and central Taiwan to drop to 11 degrees Celsius early Sunday morning, according to forecasts from the Central Weather Administration (CWA). The cold air mass is anticipated to impact Taiwan from Saturday to Sunday, with some regions potentially experiencing sporadic rain. According to Focus Taiwan, CWA forecaster Chang Cheng-chuan stated that the cold front will be most intense early Sunday morning, with temperatures in central and northern Taiwan expected to range from 11 to 13 degrees Celsius. Other areas may experience slightly warmer temperatures, ranging from 14 to 15 degrees Celsius. Chang noted that the weather would remain cool from December 17 to 19, before another cold air mass approaches on December 20, though its intensity is still under observation. Chang also highlighted a high likelihood of rain in areas north of Taoyuan and Yilan County in the northeast on Friday. Daytime temperatures on Friday are projected t o reach 18 to 20 degrees Celsius in the north and northeast, decreasing to 14 to 15 degrees Celsius at night.
