Interferry 2026 Set to Elevate Bangkok as a Global Maritime Hub

Bangkok:The iconic Chao Phraya Express Boat Co., Ltd. is gearing up to host the prestigious Interferry 2026 conference, scheduled from October 31 to November 4, 2026, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok. This event will bring together leaders from the global water transport industry to discuss innovations and the future of sustainable waterway travel.

According to Thai News Agency, the Chao Phraya Express Boat Co., Ltd. has unveiled significant strategies to adapt to the evolving transportation landscape. Ms. Supaporn Pichaironrongsongkram, the Chairperson of the company and Chair of Interferry 2026, highlighted a shift in travel patterns along the Chao Phraya River. The number of daily users has decreased due to the transformation of riverside areas into commercial zones and tourist destinations, as well as the rise of alternative transport options like the BTS and MRT.

Despite these challenges, Chao Phraya Express Boat maintains a leading 70% market share by prioritizing punctuality and safety. The company is developing new energy-efficient boats made from steel and aluminum to meet modern demands. It is also expanding its expertise in maritime systems, offering services in shipbuilding and fleet management, and exploring new routes beyond Bangkok.

Interferry 2026 will feature discussions on clean energy, navigation innovations, and the future of ferry travel. Notable speakers include Mr. Mike Corrigan, CEO of Interferry, and Rear Admiral Surasan Kongsiri of the Royal Thai Navy. The event aims to position Bangkok as a key player in global maritime transportation and provide a platform for exchanging industry insights and advancements.
