Khartoum: The State of Khartoum has begun implementing a campaign to remove illegal foreign residents from the capital. More than 5,000 foreigners and 4,000 refugees have already been relocated to designated camps.
According to Focus Taiwan, the Deputy Chair of the Committee for the Evacuation of the Capital from Refugees and Illegal Foreigners, Brigadier Sami Al-Dhai, stated that the objectives of the campaign include clearing the capital of unregistered foreigners, improving the conditions of legally registered residents, providing them with services, and safeguarding national security.
He reaffirmed the state’s welcome to foreigners residing legally in Sudan but stressed the importance of carrying valid documents proving their legal status. He explained that the campaign does not target nationals of any specific country but rather forms part of security measures to address threats arising from unregulated foreign presence while, at the same time, improving conditions for legally residing foreigners and ensuring the provision of services within the framework of the state’s security and social responsibilities.
