Mercury to Drop to 15°C Early Thursday, Before Rebounding Over the Weekend

Taipei: Temperatures in Taiwan are expected to drop into the mid-teens early Thursday, with a gradual warming trend anticipated on Friday and over the weekend.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) has forecasted this shift in weather patterns.

CWA forecaster Tsai I-chi informed that Taiwan will continue to experience the effects of seasonal northeasterly winds on Thursday. This will result in early morning temperatures dipping to between 15-18 degrees Celsius nationwide. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain around 19-21 degrees in the north, and 24-25 degrees in central and southern Taiwan.

Tsai also noted the possibility of brief showers on Thursday, particularly along the north coast, eastern Taiwan, and mountainous regions of Greater Taipei. Similar weather conditions, including rain, are forecasted for the Central Mountain Range and areas north of Taoyuan on Friday.

As the cold front begins to dissipate, a slight increase in daytime highs by 1 to 2 degrees is expected on Friday. This warming trend will continue through the weekend, with forecasts predicting clear to cloudy weather across most parts of the country. By Sunday, daytime highs are likely to reach 23-24 degrees in the north and 27-28 degrees in central and southern regions, while nighttime lows will hover around 18-19 degrees.

Looking ahead to next week, a weak northeasterly wind system is expected to bring slightly cooler weather to the northern regions on Monday and Tuesday, accompanied by a chance of rain in northern and eastern Taiwan. Warmer and drier conditions are anticipated to prevail as the system weakens by Wednesday.
