Minister supports agreement to protect children from violence

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini supported the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by eight ministries and institutions to protect and deal with violence against children.Eight heads of ministries and agencies signed the MoU on the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Education Units (PPKSP). “This is the agreement that I have been waiting for. Since I became a minister, I always handle cases of child abuse. Usually, it occurred when the school was quiet or during holiday,” she noted in a statement received here on Tuesday. This signing of the MoU is a manifestation of the spirit of collaboration for the eight ministries and institutions to implement the prevention of violence against children, especially in the educational environment. Rismaharini is optimistic that synergy from related stakeholders could aid in realizing an inclusive, diverse, and safe learning environment for all. The minister underscored the need for joint handling to address the occurrence of violence against children while also necessitating broader synergy to tackle the complexity of challenges that must be faced. “This agreement is very good. However, we still need help from the community. I am sure that together, our children will be in a comfortable and safe place wherever they are, including in the educational unit environment,” she remarked.
