Bangkok: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended an invitation to the Myanmar Ambassador for a meeting scheduled for tomorrow, following rising concerns over the recent arrest of a Thai fishing crew in Myanmar. Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra has expressed her condolences to the families affected by the incident, which left several crew members deceased or injured. According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Shinawatra received a report detailing the arrest of a Thai fishing boat crew on November 30, who were taken to the Myanmar coast. The Prime Minister has instructed the Navy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to expedite coordination efforts with Myanmar to aid the Thai nationals. Efforts to liaise with Myanmar via military and diplomatic channels are currently underway, with ongoing monitoring of developments. Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has arranged for the Myanmar Ambassador to meet in Thailand on December 2, 2024, to formally address the situation. The Prime Minister has reitera ted her condolences to the families of those affected and emphasized the importance of repatriating the fishing crew safely. Thai authorities are actively collaborating with pertinent parties to ensure the welfare and swift return of the crew members to their families.
