TSMC Unveils Ambitious Plan to Recruit 8,000 Employees in 2025

Taipei: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chipmaker, announced plans on Saturday to recruit 8,000 new employees in 2025 as part of its strategy to expand production capacity and maintain its competitive edge.

According to Focus Taiwan, TSMC is launching a comprehensive recruitment campaign targeting campuses across Taiwan. The company’s initiative is designed to attract top talent, offering newly recruited engineers with a master’s degree an average annual wage of NT$2.2 million (US$60,912). This salary is significantly higher than Taiwan’s average income of NT$709,000 in 2023, based on government statistics.

TSMC made its recruitment intentions known during its participation in a job fair at National Taiwan University (NTU) on Saturday. Following this event, TSMC plans to attend 19 additional job fairs at other leading universities in Taiwan, including National Taiwan Normal University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Taipei University of Technology, National Central University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.

In addition to these on-campus events, TSMC will conduct five online job fairs to reach international candidates. The company is looking for professionals in various fields, including electrical engineering, telecommunications, optoelectronics, physics, materials, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, industrial engineering and engineering management, business management, finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, statistics, human resources, education, labor affairs, and law.

New hires will be assigned to TSMC facilities throughout Taiwan, including locations in Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, and Kaohsiung.

In conjunction with its recruitment efforts, TSMC has also announced an internship program for the upcoming summer vacation. The company is accepting applications from university students in their third year or higher until May 5, with preference given to those in master’s and Ph.D. programs. TSMC indicated that interns who excel during the program stand a good chance of receiving full-time job offers.
